Pick a range, read the line
You plot the same three series over whichever range you pick. Short ranges stay dense enough to catch a spike. Long ranges help you see whether it was a spike or a trend.
Three series, and what each answers
Between them, they cover the three ways a server runs out of room.
- CPU. See how much of the processor the machine uses. A line that sits near the top means your machine needs a bigger plan, not a restart.
- Disk. Track reads and writes against the machine's own disk. This series explains a site that feels slow while the processor looks idle.
- Network. Watch traffic going in and out of the machine. You check this the day the bill looks wrong or a script talks to something it should not.
What "live" actually means
Live is not a word we throw around. You watch a 300-second window read at a 10-second step. The plot refreshes at the resolution the platform returns, rather than at a rate we picked to look busy.
- You find the clock time of the last read printed under the plot.
- A countdown tells you exactly when the next read lands.
- The console shows raw numbers without smoothing or averaging anything.
- A machine being built displays its progress instead of an empty chart.
Metrics come directly from the platform your machine runs on. If a reading is refused, the console tells you instead of drawing a flat line at zero and leaving you to trust it.
Frequently asked questions
How far back can I look?
Seven days is the longest range. For anything older, the pattern you want is usually already visible in the 7-day plot or in your own application logs.
Can I see metrics for a dedicated server?
Yes. Metrics are one of the areas that apply to every hardware we sell. They are read from the machine rather than from the cloud fabric around it.
Does the console alert me when a line goes high?
Not today. The console plots the data and you read it. If you want a page on a threshold, run an agent inside the machine, where you have full root access.
Why does the live range refresh at an odd interval?
The interval matches the resolution the platform actually returns, rather than a number we chose. Refreshing faster than the data changes would only redraw the same line.
