The legal owner of the domain. The registry gives this person control. Disputes are decided using this contact.

WHOIS privacy replaces your details with a forwarding service in public records. It is a paid add-on, not a free feature.
Changing the registrant email requires confirmation
ICANN requires the old and new owner to confirm the change. The console handles this process. You do not just type over the address.
- Start the change
Enter the new email address. We do not save it until both parties confirm.
- Wait for confirmation
The registry emails the old and new addresses. The change stays pending until both confirm.
- Resend or cancel
You can resend missing emails or cancel a pending change at any time.
- Apply the change
When both parties confirm, the email updates. An immediate change adds a 60-day transfer lock.

Common questions
Are WHOIS contacts the same as my account details?
No. Your account is for billing and login. The registrant is the domain owner. Changing one does not update the other.
Why can I not just edit the registrant email directly?
Direct edits would allow unauthorized transfers. The confirmation process proves the owner authorized the change.
What is the 60-day lock for?
It prevents immediate transfers after an ownership change, blocking a common hijack method. All registrars must apply it.
Can I cancel a pending change?
Yes. You can cancel before both sides confirm. The contact remains unchanged.
Do all registries publish the same details?
No. Each registry sets its own rules for public WHOIS data. The console shows all data, but the registry decides what to publish.
