Only you can move your domain.
One switch locks the domain. One hidden code unlocks it. You control both from this screen.
Keeping or moving it
The lock and the key
A locked domain cannot leave. An unlocked domain with the right code can leave. You make the choice.
Manual and automatic locks
You control the main lock. The registry enforces other locks automatically based on industry rules.
You control these options directly.
- Toggle the transfer lock
- Request the authorisation code
- Keep the lock on permanently
- Unlock briefly for a transfer
These locks apply automatically at all registrars.
- A 60-day lock after a registrant email change
- A 60-day lock after transferring a domain in
- A lock during an active transfer
- A lock when the domain expires
How to transfer out
We prefer you stay, but we make leaving simple. The process requires four steps.
- Verify your email
The transfer requires email confirmation. Check the Contacts screen and ensure you can read the registrant email.
- Disable the lock
Switch the lock off. We send this to the registry. The screen updates when the domain is free to move.
- Get the code
Request the authorisation code. We display it once. Paste it directly into the new registrar.
- Approve the transfer
Start the transfer at the new registrar. Confirm it via email. Once complete, turn the lock back on there.
Domain theft usually happens when someone breaches an email account. The transfer lock protects your domain even if your email is compromised.
Common questions
Is the transfer lock active by default?
Yes. It protects the domain from the start. You must manually disable it.
Do you save my authorisation code?
No. We fetch it live from the registry and never save it in our database or logs.
Why do I have to submit a form to see the code?
A standard link can be bookmarked, prefetched, or leaked in headers. We require a deliberate action to show a secret.
Do you support DNSSEC?
No. The console does not offer DNSSEC.
Can I lock the domain again if I cancel a transfer?
Yes. Toggle the switch back on immediately. We send the update straight to the registry.
