سجل DNS حر الشكل يخزّن نصاً مقابل اسم مضيف. عملياً هو طبقة التحقق في الإنترنت: سياسات البريد SPF وDKIM وDMARC، وإثباتات ملكية المواقع لدى Google وMicrosoft، وتحديات إصدار شهادات SSL كلها تسكن سجلات TXT. ومن المعتاد أن يحمل النطاق الواحد عدة سجلات منها.

A free-form DNS record that stores text against a hostname. In practice it powers the internet's verification layer: SPF, DKIM and DMARC email policies, Google and Microsoft site-ownership proofs, and SSL issuance challenges all live in TXT records. One domain commonly carries several.
